Wisconsin is home to a robust population of Sandhill Cranes. In the not-so-distant past, Sandhill Cranes were nearly lost from the Midwest entirely as they battled with threats of unregulated hunting and habitat loss. Thanks to continued conservation efforts, Sandhill Cranes have rebounded tremendously, and they are now the most abundant species of crane in the world. However, Sandhill Cranes continue to face threats in Wisconsin and throughout their range.
Join the International Crane Foundation for an engaging 45-minute presentation on Sandhill Cranes to learn more about their history, habitat associations, and their annual cycle! Following this presentation, you will be able to identify Sandhill Cranes by sight and sound, understand their behaviors throughout the year, and find out how you can be an ambassador for cranes in Wisconsin.
